Luminescent Sky mica appears almost white at first glance, but when it catches the light it shifts into a soft, pale blue shimmer. This delicate colour effect makes it a beautiful addition to illuminating cosmetics such as eyeshadows and highlighters.
Mica is a fine mineral powder that reflects light to create a pearlescent effect on the skin. It is produced by coating natural mica flakes with metal oxides such as titanium dioxide, iron oxide, or zirconium dioxide. The exact shade and luminosity depend on the thickness of these oxide layers, giving a wide range of iridescent and colour-shifting effects.
Particle size also influences the finish: finer particles produce a smooth satin sheen, while larger particles give a stronger sparkle. Luminescent Sky mica works well in body, lip, and face creams and balms, as well as in CP, HP, and M&P soaps. In clear M&P soap, the pale blue shimmer is most striking, while in opaque soaps the pearlescence is softer but can still create exquisite effects when swirled or brushed onto the finished bar.
