Cocoa butter is a rich, naturally occurring vegetable butter derived from cocoa beans. Known for its exceptional stability and naturally long shelf life, cocoa butter is widely used in skincare formulations where a firm structure and nourishing skin feel are desired.

Solid at room temperature but melting on contact with the skin, cocoa butter is commonly used in lip balms, body butters, creams and soaps.

This variety has been deodorised using steam, which removes most of the natural cocoa aroma while retaining the beneficial fatty acid profile. No solvents are used in the deodorisation process.

Deodorised cocoa butter is ideal for formulations where the natural chocolate scent of raw cocoa butter would interfere with fragrances or essential oils.

Uses in Skincare Formulation

Cocoa butter is widely used in natural skincare and cosmetic formulations where a rich, stable butter is required. Its relatively high melting point helps provide structure while delivering a smooth skin feel.

Common uses include:

Lip balms and lipsticks
Body butters and solid moisturisers
Lotion bars and massage bars
Cold process soap
Creams and lotions

It can be used at low percentages to add structure to emulsions, or at higher percentages in anhydrous balms and body butters.
