Carbomer 20 creates crystal clear gels and serves as a thickener and stabiliser agent.

Carbomer 20 is a hydrophobically modified cross-linked acrylate copolymer, providing moderate to high viscosity with smooth flow properties. It delivers excellent thickening efficiency at a broad pH range which makes it a good choice for wide applications.

It self-wets and disperses quickly in minutes.

It has higher electrolyte tolerance and handles a higher level of surfactant actives, being ideally suited for use in formulations containing higher levels of oils, botanical ingredients, or actives. Even at high concentration, Carbomer 20 maintains excellent clarity.

Note from the manufacturer: For a formulation system, such as 75% ethanol for hand sanitising gel, the ideal pH for clarity of the final product would be 6.3 - 6.8.

Formula Guidelines

• Typical use 0.2 to 1.5 wt%
• Sprinkle polymer on surface of water and allow to self-wet
• Agitation must be processed gently
• Pre - or post-neutralisation is workable, depending on application
