Buah merah oil
Buah merah oil
Buah Merah oil is a deeply coloured, nutrient-dense fruit oil cold pressed from the wild-harvested fruit of Pandanus conoideus, a plant native to Indonesia. The oil is virgin, filtered, and retains its naturally intense redāorange colour, which reflects its high content of naturally occurring carotenoids.
Because of its vivid pigmentation, Buah Merah oil is best used at low inclusion rates in formulations unless a strong tint is desired. While it is technically safe for direct skin application, using it neat will leave a noticeable orange hue on the skin.
About Buah Merah Oil
Buah Merah oil has a rich, textured feel and an average absorption rate, making it suitable for use in nourishing oil blends, balms, creams, and haircare formulations. It is particularly popular in products designed for dry or mature skin types, where richer oils are often preferred.
The oil is naturally high in oleic acid, a fatty acid commonly used in skincare to support softness and help reduce moisture loss when formulated appropriately. Its deep colour comes from naturally occurring carotenoids, which are widely valued in cosmetic formulation for their role in supporting the appearance of healthy-looking skin.
Common Uses
Skincare formulations
Often included at low percentages in facial oils, serums, creams, and balms where a deeply nourishing oil is desired.
Colour-enhancing blends
Used sparingly to add a natural warm tint to oil blends, balms, and body products.
Haircare and scalp products
Commonly incorporated into hair oils, masks, and scalp treatments to support the look and feel of dry hair and scalp.
Usage Notes
-
Safe for use up to 100%, however recommended usage is under 3% due to the extremely strong natural colour
-
Best blended with lighter carrier oils to dilute both colour and texture
-
Patch testing is always recommended, particularly for sensitive skin
